Testing is a form of measuring students' knowledge based on use of pedagogical tests. Includes preparation of tests, testing and subsequent processing of results, which gives an assessment of student's knowledge.
There are a lot of scenarios for using this method of knowledge assessment. Method is quite simple, reliable and objective (if properly organized). At the same time it has some disadvantages.
To test knowledge of employees in Bitrix24 you can use testing module in Corporate University application.
Types of test questions
App allows creating following types of test questions:
Choice - student must choose one or more correct answers;
Sequence - student must restore correct sequence;
Correspondence - student must carry out correct comparison of answer options;
Open - student enters a free-form answer and verifier notes whether the answer is correct or not;
Substitution - the question contains missing words, numbers or symbols and student must enter correct data.
Setting up of tests
Testing module contains a large number of settings that allows to create various testing scenarios:
Catalog sections, tags.
Difficulty level. Difficulty level selection: easy, medium, difficult.
Type of test. Intermediate or final.
Allow comments. Ability to comment test.
Issue a certificate. When student get a passing score the system will automatically generate a certificate that is added and configured in advance.
Display a feedback form. After testing, a pre-added and pre-configured feedback questionnaire will be displayed.
Number of questions. This is the number of questions displayed to the student. For example, if you select the value 10 and if 100 questions are added, 10 questions from 100 questions added to the test will be displayed randomly to student. If all the questions are displayed then it is possible to set the weights.
Do not mix questions. By default it is not active and questions are displayed randomly. If activated questions will be displayed in the order in which they are entered in the test.
Answers to all questions are required. If activated, the test subject must answer all the output questions. If you do not mark the answer, the system will not skip further.
All questions must be answered. If activated student must answer all questions that are displayed. If student do not answer the system will not let student go further.
Testing interval. Number of days after which a new test attempt is provided in case of unsuccessful testing.
Show the passage time. During the test timer is turned on and elapsed time is displayed.
Time for the test. Time to pass the test. After the end of the time test will be stopped.
Test results. Four options:
do not show the answers - test results will be available only to the moderators of the application.
show questions with an evaluation - an employee undergoing testing will see the correct or incorrect answer. But not the answers.
show questions, answers, evaluation - an employee undergoing testing will see the correct or incorrect answer. He will also see in which answers mistakes were made, which answers were given correctly.
show an incorrect answer right away - student will immediately see whether he answered correctly or not (the result will be highlighted). But student will not see the correct results.
Prohibit returning and changing the answer. If this option is selected then the student will not be allowed to go back to change the answer.
Percentage of responses (passing score). The percentage of correct answers for passing the test. It is actually a passing score. The percentage is calculated taking into account the weight coefficients if they were added to the questions.
All tests in the catalog are open by default and are available for self-assignment, but there are situations when it is necessary to assign some kind of testing. Just select an employee, department or group, select tests and that's it.
All employees will receive a notification in the app, in Bitrix, by mail and they will also have a task. Through reports moderator can monitor the status of passing testing.
It is possible to create an automatic testing assignments for newcomers. All newly added employees to the portal will be automatically assigned testing. Or create a periodic assignment (once a year, once a month, etc.).
The groups in our application are integrated with the groups in Bitrix and offer three useful features:
Restrict access to courses/tests;
Provide support to students BEFORE, DURING and AFTER learning;
Provide access to courses/tests to external (extranet) users.
Restricting access to courses/tests
Sometimes some courses need to be closed from public access. This is very easy to do in the app:
Create a group (or import any existing one from Bitrix);
Add courses/tests to it.
Only employees added to this group will see the courses/tests.
Support for students BEFORE, DURING and AFTER learning
Bitrix itself contains a very good tool - groups. The Bitrix group allows students to:
Communicate on the subject of learning;
Add learning tasks;
Add files (for example, additional methodological materials);
Plan group events in the calendar. Including planning and conducting a video call or webinar using the built-in standard tools of Bitrix 24;
Create a knowledge base, wiki pages, longreads.
The Bitrix learning group is an opportunity to create a full-fledged learning ecosystem from the e-learning platform.
With the help of the app it is possible organize distance learning of external users. For example, the company have partners who need to be trained of your products or services. It is possible to open access to specific courses without opening access to other courses and tests.
Create a group for extranet users, add users there and the courses/tests that you want to open to them. That's it. External users will only see the courses and tests added to the group.
The application has the ability to upload own certificate template. Configure output data and the app will automatically generate a certificate after testing is completed. Received certificates will appear in the student's personal account.
Commenting, feedback, gamification
In the course settings it is possible to set the possibility of commenting. Any employee will be able to write a comment others will respond.
Each course can be rated by a five-point scale. It is possible to select displaying a feedback questionnaire after training. Moreover, there is a pre-configured questionnaire in the app, but it is possible to change it and add own questions.
Gamification. For the main actions - passing training and testing, it is possible to add points that will be calculated automatically and output the employee's rating. Ratings can also be customized.
The app contains more than 15 standard reports that allow to get any information on the progress of learning and testing.
